Project Overview
This garden had clear delineation points through the steps and slope dividing the garden into thirds, which we wanted to incorporate into our garden design. With this in mind, our garden design featured three distinct areas, each with a modern, geometric style.
Design Brief
- Area for socialising & entertaining
- Raised beds
- A flat piece of lawn
- Low maintenance
- formal and informal/cottage style planting
- Wildlife pond
- Access to the storage area
Mixed Hardscaping Materials
We used different materials to create texture, contrast and added interest across the three distinct areas. We used a combination of Cotswold gravel on the upper third level, near the wildlife pond, with a lawn laid to turf in the middle, and Cotswold gravel on the lower third tier.
We designed a hardwood terrace from the house using yellow balau. It was raised to the internal floor height to connect the living area with the garden, creating one fluid space.
Contemporary Fencing
Our team then designed and installed a screen using western red cedar in horizontal panels to give a more contemporary feeling to the garden design, while hiding the storage area and creating more privacy.
